Welcome to Stourbridge Theatre Company’s Web Site
which is intended to give you some
information about STC which we hope you will find
useful.
The Company began over 75 years ago, it was originally
called, The Stourbridge Play Readers later to become Stourbridge
Dramatic Society. In 1998 it was formed into a limited company
called: Stourbridge Theatre Company Limited, a company
limited by guarantee and a registered charity. It is run by a board
of directors who are elected at an annual general meeting, held in
September.
STC aims to produce, high quality, theatrical
productions. Of course these need actors but a successful production
is equally dependant on a whole team of people behind the scenes or
front of house. All are welcome and have a part to
play
We usually put on three major productions a year,
these include, thrillers, period dramas, Shakespeare, comedies,
children’s fantasies and farce. In addition we enter theatre
festivals, present other smaller scale productions, hold play
readings and organise various social events, from time to
time. We perform in March and late November, each year, at the
Stourbridge Town Hall Theatre and, during the warm summer evenings,
open air, in the grounds of Himley Hall or some other
venue.
We rehearse for about three months prior to a
production from 7.30pm to 10.00pm every Monday and Thursday at St.
Joseph’s School, Lea Vale Road , Norton, Stourbridge. Members and
prospective new members are welcome to attend rehearsals for a chat
and a cup of coffee.
There are various ways to become part of STC, you can
join as a member or you may wish to become a Patron; both receive a
regular newsletter and patrons receive two free tickets for each
major production. Alternatively, you may just want to join our free
mailing list to receive advance notification of all
productions.
